Centro Profesional Indígena de Asesoría, Defensa y Traducción (CEPIADET)

CEPIADET is an organization made up of Indigenous professionals that was created on November 4, 2005. This organization came to be in the social scene in Oaxaca as a response for the need of Indigenous language speakers to be able to exercise their linguistic rights in the justice system. In the more than ten years that this organization has existed, it has consolidated both internally and externally. Internally, a collaborative dynamic has been established with a long-term objective that will be achieved through three strategies:

1.    Exercise of rights: Helping with the construction of institutions and procedures that allow the rights of Indigenous Communities to be fully exercised.

2.    Action and Public Politics: Evaluating the way that governmental institutions address individual and collective problems of Indigenous Communities and from those create proposals so the institutions can create public policies that are pertinent culturally and linguistically.

3.    Strengthen the Human Collective: Allowing Indigenous Communities to look at themselves and act as the only ones responsible for their conditions of live, so they can make sure they are exercising their rights.
